Football section
The SC Ober Maßfeld was founded in 1921 under the name SC 1921 Ober Maßfeld . Until 1945 the club always acted in a lower class, any participation in the Gauliga Mitte or in the finals of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs did not take place.
In 1945 the association was dissolved and re-established as SG Ober Maßfeld . The loose sports group appeared from 1951 within the tractor sports association as the tractor Ober Maßfeld and the tractor Ober Maßfeld-Grimmenthal . On a sporting level, the Thuringians played from 1957 to the mid-sixties in the then third and fourth class district league Suhl , in which Ober Maßfeld was almost always in a relegation battle. The top division of the Suhl district was held by Traktor Ober Maßfeld with brief interruptions until 1967, after which the BSG was only active at league level in local football in southern Thuringia. In the 1954/55 season the one-time qualification for the first main round of the FDGB Cup , in which Traktor Ober Maßfeld was able to prevail 1-0 over Post Jena , but in the following round the Thuringians clearly lost to BSG Motor Zschopau with 0-5.
After the fall of the Wall, it was renamed SC 1921 Ober Maßfeld in 1990 . The current division is the Rhön-Rennsteig district league .
