The Sports Club Elite from 1921 , also known as SC Elite or SC Elite Hannover for short , is a sports club in Hanover that offers football , boxing and weightlifting . The registered association with its own sports field is also the organizer of the Hanover Grand Prix in weight training with nationwide participation. The club is located at Stadionbrücke 5, at the corner of Stammestrasse, in the Linden-Süd district, near the HDI Arena stadium .

History and description

The sports club was originally founded a few years after the First World War and at the beginning of the Weimar Republic in 1921 for the rugby game under the name Lawn Sports Club (RC) Elite .

At the time of National Socialism and due to the beginning of the Second World War , the RC Elite merged with SC Linden, which had been founded in 1907, to become the Sports Club Elite from 1907 , which - in the middle of the war - won the German championship title in 1941.

After the war and still under the British military government , the sports club was re-established in 1946; the SC Linden was separated again and the SC Elite continued as a rugby club under its current name.

After the sports field at the stadium bridge over the Ihme was taken over in 1959 , the club also offered football from 1966, and from 1987 also weight training, initially as a "bench press". The sport of rugby was abandoned in the mid-1970s.
