The SV Dinamo Helfort 15 Young Stars is an Austrian football club from the 16th district of Ottakring in the federal capital Vienna and currently plays in the 2nd regional league , the fifth highest level in Austria.

history

Foundation and early years

The club was founded in 1910 as the Helfort Sports Club . There are different interpretations of the origin of the name. Allegedly an impregnable French fort Belfort provided the incentive to name it, although it seems unclear why the letter B was replaced by an H. A second assumption speaks of a founding member by the name of Alois Helfert.

Helfort played for many years in the lower classes of Vienna. During the First World War , gaming operations had to be temporarily suspended. In 1921 Helfort moved into its first own sports field in Kendlerstrasse, which the club still owns. In the 1924/25 season Helfort achieved the championship title in the 3rd class north. The club would have been qualified as a promoted player for the second highest division. However, the association decided in 1926 to transfer to VAFÖ , where it remained until 1934. The highlight of this time was winning the championship in 1930. After that, the Helfort sports club played in the 2nd class North for the first time and already reached fifth place in the first year. In the 1936/37 season the Ottakringers won the championship title of the 2nd level and were thus eligible to start in the promotion round to the then National League . With just one win, Helfort only came second behind the superior 1. Simmeringer SC, ahead of SK Sturm Graz . In the following season 1937/38, the champion of the now single-track 2nd class would have been eligible for promotion without qualification, but SC Helfort was only second behind SC Austro Fiat Wien . Also in the 1942/43 season , the Ottakringer failed again with second place just short of promotion to the top league in the East Markets .

Success period 1944-1946

The 1944/45 season was canceled on February 4, 1945 due to the war events and not counted. At the time of the cancellation, Helfort was superior at the top of the table. The Ottakringers achieved another high point with a 5-1 victory over the Austrian record champions SK Rapid Wien in front of 16,000 spectators at the so-called Liberation Cup in 1945. Helfort was able to advance into the final and lost there against First Vienna FC 1894 Wien with 1: 3. For the first post-war season in 1945/46 , Helfort was admitted to the top of the league in Vienna as a league leader in the previous year's championship . The biggest success during the one-year guest appearance in the first performance class was again a win against SK Rapid, at home in front of 12,000 spectators with 2-1. Overall, it was enough for SC Helfort only to 10th place in the table, which is why the club immediately had to accept relegation.

The slow descent

In 1949/50, the national league A was played for the first time after the Second World War, an Austrian championship. Helfort played this season in the Vienna league, which had been relegated to the second level. In 1950/51 the State League B was introduced, which was open to clubs from the eastern federal states including Vienna. Helfort failed with the 6th season rank, however, to qualify for the State League B and remained in the now third-class Vienna League until the 1964/65 season. In the following years the club managed to play several times in the Regionalliga Ost until 1975 before relegation to the Viennese sub-league followed. In 1981 SC Helfort merged with FC Hornek from Vienna to form SC Helfort-Hornek . In 1991 it finally merged with FC Fortuna Wien . This club, not to be confused with the DSV Fortuna 05 Vienna , was founded in 1922 under the name Neulerchenfelder Amateure . As SKF Helfort 15 Vienna they made it to the Vienna league and in the 1996/97 season they reached second place in the table behind Floridsdorfer AC . In the following years, with the support of the main sponsor SPC Gschwandtner Seminare Projekte Consulting GmbH, SKF Helfort 15 was renamed SPC Helfort .

Another success

In the 2005/06 game year the SPC Helfort played in the Oberliga A and achieved considerable success when they became champions with 24 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats and thus rose to the Vienna City League. With a goal difference of 108: 44 (an average of 3 goals per game) this season was one of the most successful in recent years. The main goal for the current season is relegation.

2006-2009

The SPC Helfort had it not easy after the championship title in the Oberliga-A, in the following season in the Wienerliga. It was a mixed season. You could still save yourself in a "final" to avoid relegation. Unfortunately this was lost 3: 5 against the LAC and you had to go back to the league. For the 2007/2008 season , after numerous departures, the team had to be almost completely restructured. But they did more than well and ended this season with 61 points in 3rd place. The absolute highlight was the 1: 2 win over "arch rivals" Slovan HC on their facility. The following season 2008/2009 was the first full season for Wilhelm Binder and Martin Puza as a joint coaching team. In terms of sport, you couldn't quite repeat the success of last season, which was perhaps due to the fact that the coaching team gradually rejuvenated the team. Finally a 7th place came out of it. In terms of infrastructure, the facility has been upgraded with new artificial turf.

Football field

The Helfort-Platz is located in Ottakring near the Auto-Platz ( Red Star Penzing ) and the Slovan-Platz ( Slovan HAC Vienna ). The sports field was taken over by the SC Transvaal in 1921 and still serves as a home for the Ottakringers today. It includes a grass pitch and an artificial turf pitch. Since the completion of the U3 station Kendlerstrasse in 1999, all three places have been easily accessible. The entrance to the Helfort-Platz is diagonally opposite the subway exit of Opfermanngasse.
