The diesel-electric railcar SFB M was procured by A / S Faaborg – Svendborg Jernbaneselskab (SFB) for operation on the Danish private railway line Svendborg – Faaborg , which opened in 1916 .

SFB M / SFB MD 13

For passenger traffic on the route between Svendborg and Faaborg , the company acquired a six-axle railcar with three bogies in 1932 to save on locomotive-driven trains . The supplier was the Danish locomotive factory Triangel in Odense , the vehicle had the serial number 1358. From 1936 the railcar was referred to as SFB MD 13 .

Technical Equipment

The body of the railcar was supplied by Scandia A / S in Randers . The electrical equipment came from Thrige. While the front and rear running bogies had no drive, the motor bogie located in the middle of the car contained the entire drive technology of the vehicle.

DSB MDF 497

After the construction of the Svendborg – Faaborg line, management was immediately handed over to Sydfyenske Jernbaner (SFJ) , so the company's vehicles were maintained and used by the SFJ.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the SFB vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the SFB and did not become the property of the state railways. It received the series designation MDF and the road number 497.

It was based in Odense Syd from 1951 to 1952 and was sold to Odense – Kerteminde – Martofte Jernbane (Kertemindebanen) in 1952 , which owned two other vehicles of the same type.

OKMJ MD 12

At Kertemindebanen the railcar was classified as OKMJ MD 12 . There he received an eight-cylinder diesel engine from MAN . It stayed on the track until it was retired in 1966. The undercarriage of the wagons was sold in 1968 to Vemb – Lemvig – Thyborøn Jernbane (VLTJ) for spare parts .
