SIGMA Clermont is a French engineering college in Clermont-Ferrand . It has grande école status and, as a public university, is subject to the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

The university is a member of the Engineering College Conference (CDEFI), the French University Rectors' Conference (CGE), the Chemical Alliance Fédération Gay-Lussac . She is also an associate member of the Institut Mines-Télécom .

history

SIGMA Clermont was officially founded on January 1st, 2016. It emerged from the merger of the École Nationale Superiéure de Chimie de Clermont-Ferrand (ENSCCF), founded in 1908, and the Institut Français de Mécanique Avancée (IFMA), founded in 1991 .

The university is located on the “Les Cézeaux” technology campus in the south of Clermont-Ferrand.

Education

After passing the entrance exams, students at SIGMA Clermont can study two different diploma courses (M.Sc.). There are different compulsory specialization options:

  • Diploma in chemistry
    • Specialization in fine and industrial organic chemistry (pharmaceutical chemistry and extraction of natural substances)
    • Immersion in high-performance materials
    • Specialization in chemical engineering
  • Degree in engineering
    • Specialization in machines, mechanical systems and mechanisms
    • Specialization in materials science
    • Specialization in industrial systems and logistics (industrial engineering)

International issues, aircraft construction or business start-ups can be chosen as additional specializations.

In addition to the two diploma courses, SIGMA Clermont offers the Innomech master's course (M2, M.Sc.) for students with a qualifying bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or physics, which entitles them to pursue a doctoral degree. It offers the following compulsory specialization options:

  • Winter semester: intensive specialist studies in the areas of robotics, plant engineering and materials science
  • Summer semester: 6-month research project or industrial internship (or traineeship program lasting several months, which also leads to a master’s degree after six months)

Cooperation with the German-speaking area
