The Soar is a tributary of the Trent in the English East Midlands .

It rises near Hinckley in Leicestershire and flows through Leicester (where it joins the Grand Union Canal at Aylestone ), Barrow upon Soar and Kegworth . Near Ratcliffe on Soar in Nottinghamshire it flows into the Trent, this into the Humber , which flows into the North Sea.

According to legend, the corpse of the English King Richard III. thrown into the soar.
