SSG 81 Erlangen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SSG 81 Erlangen is one of the most successful German starting communities for swimming .

The Erlangen Swimming Association (SSG) was formed in 1981 from the Erlangen Swimming Club and the swimming departments of the Siemens Erlangen Sports Association and the Gymnastics Association in 1888 Erlangen . In 2014, the swimming department of the Gymnastics Association left the community. From now on, the community consists of the swimming club Erlangen eV (SVE) and the sports community Siemens Erlangen swimming eV (SGS). The number of members is around 1000 active members, including around 500 children and young people. Only swimming is practiced in the club. The women's team swam regularly for the German championship in the 1st Bundesliga swimming (2004 rank two, 2005 rank three, 2006 rank two and 2007 rank two), the men's team also started swimming in the 2nd Bundesliga . The training takes place in the Hannah-Stockbauer-Halle , where the top athletes train for 25 hours a week.

In the junior area there is also hard training, but great importance is also attached to maintaining the community within the youth groups, i. H. there are many community camps for young people, training camps and activities outside the pool.

In the swimming courses for children from the age of 3, the foundation stone is laid for all later activities and successes.

Known swimmers

Top swimmers such as European champion Teresa Rohmann and relay world record holder Daniela Götz competed for SSG Erlangen . Erlangen's best-known no longer active swimmer is five-time world champion Hannah Stockbauer ; she ended her career in October 2005.
