The type SSW Super 1000 is a feeder ship type designed by the Schichau Seebeck shipyard in Bremerhaven . The ships of the type were built for several German shipping companies.

history

The SSW developed the type from the mid-2000s. The type ship Anna Sibum was delivered in August 2007, followed by the Grete Sibum in March 2008 and the Stefan Sibum in January 2009. The shipping company Bernd Sibum in Haren / Ems originally ordered a fourth ship of the series. The ship planned with the name Hermann Sibum could no longer be built due to the bankruptcy of the shipyard. After the SSW shipyard went bankrupt, an additional 18 units of the type were ordered from the Chinese shipyards Jiangdong Changjiang Shipyard in Wuhu and Sainty Marine in Jiangdu, Jiangsu.

In 2017, the Wes Amelie at German Dry Docks in Bremerhaven was the world's first container ship to be converted for operation with LNG.

The ships are designed as multi-purpose dry cargo ships with a deckhouse arranged aft. The ships are mainly used in Northern European container feeder services, which is why they are designed with Finnish ice class 1A. The capacity is 1036 TEU, of which 714 TEU can be stowed on deck and 322 TEU in the holds. Transporting up to 745 TEU is possible with a homogeneous load with 14-tonne 20-foot containers. On board, up to 257 refrigerated containers can be connected in 114 positions in the hold and 136 positions on deck. The ships have three holds with a grain space of 17,767.5 cubic meters, which are closed with hydraulic folding hatch covers.

The ships are powered by a four-stroke diesel engine of the MaK 9M43C or MAN 8L48 / 60 type , each with an output of 9,000 kW. The engine drives a shaft generator and the controllable pitch propeller and enables a speed of 19 knots. There are also two auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster with an output of 800 kW.
