The SV Beeckerwerth (officially: Sportverein Beeckerwerth 1925 eV ) is a sports club from the Duisburg district of Beeckerwerth . The first soccer team played for a year in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.

history

The club was founded in 1925 as a pure football club. Later the gymnastics , athletics , swimming and volleyball departments were added. There used to be a martial arts department too .

The footballers played in the district class after the end of World War II . In 1949, the team prevailed in a relegation round against Linner SV and SV Bilk 13 and rose to the state league , which at the time was the highest amateur league on the Lower Rhine. As the bottom of the table in the 1949/50 season, the direct relegation followed. Low point was an 8-0 home defeat against Sterkrade 06/07 . In the following season the Beeckerwerther were even passed into the district class. It was not until 1954 that he was promoted to the district class, which was followed three years later by promotion to the regional league. With Fritz Matzko a former player of the club came in the 1950s with the Meidericher SV in the then first-class league.

After the introduction of the Niederrhein Association League, this was only the second highest amateur league. As with the first attempt, the direct relegation followed after a year. The club then slipped into local leagues and has been in the district league B since relegation in 2009.
