history

After it was founded in 1907, the soccer team also joined the newly founded Gau Anhalt within the VMBV in 1909 . However, the placement in the first season (1909/10) is no longer recorded.

For the 1917/18 season, the team rose again and reached second place at the end of the season, due to the tie with FC Cöthen 02 (18: 6 points), there was a playoff for the championship title. This game was then won on March 29, 1918 in Dessau 3-1 by FC Cöthen. This result was then canceled by the game committee, which meant a replay had to come. Due to a tight deadline, however, FC Cöthen was nominated as a participant in the final round of the championship. The replay took place again on August 25, 1918 in Dessau and Bernburg won 4-2.

In the following seasons, the team could not get out of the table basement, although you could always keep the class. With Wacker Bernburg , however, there was soon local competition that later became more successful. After the National Socialists came to power , the team was then grouped into the second class district class Magdeburg-Anhalt . In the first season there, the club finished ninth with 19:23 points. After the 1935/36 season , however, the team rose with only 17:23 points over the 10th place in the 1st district class. After the 1938/39 season, the team rose again to the district class and finished sixth in the first season with 8:16 points, which should not be enough for relegation. For the 1941/42 season , the team rose again to the meanwhile 1st class league. This time the class could also be held in fifth place with 18:18 points.

Structural changes made necessary by the advancing Second World War formed the districts of Bernburg and Köthen in the season 1943/44 a separate league. For the 1944/45 season , the team was then grouped into the Küthen-Bernburg district within the Gauliga Mitte . Nothing is known about game results from this season, due to the war it was not played to the end. At the end of the war, the association was also dissolved.
