The SV Köthen 02 (until 1927 also SV Cöthen 02) was a German soccer club from Köthen (Anhalt) in today's district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld , which existed until 1945.
society
Köthen 02 was founded in 1902 and operated within the Gau Anhalt in the championship of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs . Between 1909 and 1911 the club reached the Central German Championship three times in a row, but failed in the round of 16 to Germania Mittweida , Wacker Halle and VfB Leipzig .
The greatest success in the club's history was the semi-finals reached in 1917, in which Cöthen lost to the clearly favored HFC 1896 after victories over FC Eintracht Leipzig and Viktoria 1896 Magdeburg . In the period that followed, the club reached the Central German finals several times by 1925, but played no sporting role. Any participation in the Gauliga Mitte introduced in 1933 did not reach Köthen 02. In 1945 the club was dissolved, a re-establishment similar to the local rival Cöthener FC Germania 03 was not carried out.
