history

After the Second World War who wanted Società Veneta the steam traction replace on their main routes. In addition to the ADn 800 diesel multiple units , it therefore ordered a series of nine diesel-electric locomotives. The machines were built by TIBB and were numbered DE.424-01 to 09.

The nine locomotives were based at different depots:

As planned, the DE.424 were used on freight trains, but also on the heaviest passenger trains, e.g. B. in school traffic.

From 1981 the rail network of the Società Veneta was first divided into some subsidiaries (FNE, Tra.Ro), and later to some state commissioning companies (FAM, FBP, FPS, FUC). After the regionalization of the former private railways, the DE.424 to the FER (Region Emilia-Romagna ), FUC (Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia ) and ST (Region Veneto ) have been taken over.
