The sports club Fischbach 1959 is a sports club from Fischbach in the community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn in the district of Kaiserslautern , which has about 500 members in its departments badminton , boules , singing , football , table tennis , chess and gymnastics / popular sports. The SVF is known nationwide for its badminton department, which has produced many national players and has a Bundesliga and a regional league team.

Badminton department

The sports club in Fischbach, a village with a population of 800, has a badminton department with over 90 members; it was launched in 1994. In 2005, the badminton department of SV Fischbach was awarded the Green Ribbon for exemplary promotion of talent in the club. This is exactly what is reflected in the current roster of the village club: The roster of the first team consists largely of athletes from the region, while that of the second team consists entirely of athletes. Around 60 children and 30 adults are currently training in the department. 20 players belong to the ranks of the Badminton Association Rheinhessen-Pfalz.

Sporting successes

SV Fischbach has achieved particular success in badminton. In 2007 the men's team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga South for the first time. There the team finished the 2008/09 season in fourth place. The basis for the growing success is also the outstanding youth work, which was crowned with winning the German U19 team championship in 2008. A year later, the Fischbacher German U19 runners-up. Individual players at SV Fischbach also achieved national and international successes in the youth and school classes. Jonas Geigenberger won the silver medal at the U19 European Mixed Championship in 2009 and was involved in the team bronze medal together with Alina Hammes and Richard Domke from Fischbach. In 2012 , the club made it to the 1st Bundesliga.

Felix Hammes is in the youth national team. Previous national players of the club are Eva Mayer, Daniel Hammes, Stefan Sold, Fabian Hammes , Dieter Domke , Julian Degiuli, Philip Merz, Jonas Geigenberger, Richard Domke, Alina Hammes and Jan-Pascal Herzer.

Cooperation partner

The cooperation partner is primarily the elite school of sports, the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium in Kaiserslautern , where the players can train up to twice a day.
