The sports club Gerolstein 1919 eV is a German sports club based in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Gerolstein in the municipality of the same name in the Vulkaneifel district .
history
Soccer
post war period
The first soccer team was promoted to the Rhineland regional league, which was second class at the time , by the 1949/50 season at the latest . With 15:29 points, the class could then also be held there over ninth place in the south relay. After the 1951/52 season , the second-rate state league was then dissolved and the third-rate amateur league Rhineland was used in its place. Those placed in the first positions in the table could qualify for this. However, the SV did not make this cut and therefore had to compete in the fourth-class 2nd amateur league from next season.
Current time
In the 2002/03 season, the first team came within a syndicate in the district league B District Eifel and took third place there with 45 points. This SG was then dissolved again for the 2006/07 season, with which the club played alone in the league again. With 21 points, however, it should only be enough for 13th place, with which the team had to relegate to the district C league. After the 2008/09 season, the championship and thus promotion back to the district league B succeeded here with 64 points . In April 2013 the Gerolsteiner, SV "Eintracht" Birresborn , SV Densborn and SV Mürlenbach finally formed a new syndicate under the name SG Kylltal . At the end of the season 2014/15 finally succeeded with 58 points the championship which the SG in the district league A was allowed to rise. In the first season you had to take part in the relegation relegation, but could keep yourself in the league. After the 2016/17 season, however, this case occurred again, this time the team had to relegate again. Due to the applied quotient rule due to the discontinued 2019/20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the SG landed in first place and was thus allowed to return to the district league A for the 2020/21 season.
Handball
In handball , the first men's team played in the state league and the first women's team in the district league in the 2019/20 season.
