SV Hohenmölsen was founded in 1919 under the name Wacker Hohenmölsen . The workers 'association acted in the championship of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Federation until the National Socialists seized power ; any participation in the finals of the national championship of the ATSB did not take place.

In 1945 the association was re-established as SG Hohenmölsen or SG Vorwärts Hohenmölsen . In the period that followed, the loose sports group was renamed Aktivist Hohenmölsen again with the entry of the Aktivist sports association and the local Profen opencast mine from 1951 .

At the sporting level, activist Hohenmölsen was initially represented in the district class area, and in the 1958 season rose to the then fourth-class Halle district league for the first time together with activist Nachterstedt and Motor Aschersleben . Activist Hohenmölsen only held the top division of the district for one season. In 1957 the Reviermannschaft reached the final in the Halle District Cup, in which it was defeated by Tractor Teuchers .

In the 1958 season Hohenmölsen also took part in the FDGB Cup for the first time. After progressing via Aufbau Leipzig-Nord and Traktor Atzendorf, activist Hohenmölsen lost to the later finalist SC Lokomotive Leipzig in the first main round . The 1-1 draw in their own place was followed by an 8-1 defeat at the GDR upper division.

In the following years, activist Hohenmölsen acted without exception in the insignificance of GDR football and was only active in local football in Burgenland. The current league of the club, which was renamed SV Hohenmölsen after the turnaround in 1919, is the Burgenland district league .
