portrait

The ZLG Atzendorf traces its roots back to the founding of the men's gymnastics club in Atzendorf in 1878. In 1910 a soccer club was founded in Atzendorf for the first time. After the end of the Second World War , the sports structures in the Soviet occupation zone changed fundamentally, the previous clubs were dissolved and initially loosely organized sports groups emerged. From 1948 the sport in the Eastern Zone began to be organized on the basis of company sport associations (BSG) . The BSG MAS was founded in Atzendorf in 1949, and its sponsoring company was the local agricultural machine rental station . Together with the volleyball players, football developed into the most powerful section. In the football season 1949/50 the BSG MAS reached third place in the third-class district class of Saxony-Anhalt . After an agricultural production cooperative (LPG) had been founded in Atzendorf , it took over the sponsorship of the BSG, which then renamed itself in 1951 to "BSG Traktor". In the same year the volleyball team was able to achieve their first GDR-wide success by winning the Sportecho Cup. The soccer team continued to play in the district class, which was only fourth class from 1950 with the introduction of the GDR league . In 1957 (the season was adjusted to the calendar year) the Atzendorfer took first place in their district class relay, which was now only the fifth division due to the creation of the 2nd GDR league. So they rose to the district league Magdeburg district . Also in 1957, BSG Traktor won the district soccer cup with a 3-1 victory over activist Hötensleben . She was thus entitled to participate in the GDR-wide soccer cup competition in 1958.

In the first preliminary round of the FDGB Cup , the Atzendorfer met third division team Stahl Thale , achieved a 3: 3 in the home game after extra time and won the repeat away with 2: 0. In the second round, the BSG Traktor should compete against the fourth division activist Hohenmölsen , but waived. The BSG, which in 1959 called itself "BSG Activist" for one year, was represented in the district league for four seasons. The 1961/62 season (return to the summer-spring rhythm of the game) ended the BSG tractor in relegation position eleven. 1962/63 played the team in the district class A and was relegated again. This was followed by two seasons in the fifth-class district class B until one was classified in the single-track district class Magdeburg after a league reform for the 1965/66 season.

During this season there was another change in sponsorship. Now other LPG from the neighborhood participated in the support of the BSG, and the name changed again to “Central Land Sports Association (ZLG)”. At the same time, the athletics section was founded. The soccer team remained in the district class until the end of the GDR soccer match. When this was discontinued after the 1990/91 season, ZLG Atzendorf was 13th.

On October 1, 1990, the ZLG was transformed into a registered association , a consequence of the political and economic conditions after the fall of the 1990s . The club continued to offer several sports, including the competitive sports of soccer, volleyball, table tennis, and athletics. In 2008, the soccer team was promoted to the eighth national class.
