He replaced the company sports association Motor Süd Neubrandenburg , which had lost its economic basis as a result of the economic changes after the political change in 1989. The BSG was founded on September 1, 1953 in what was then the district capital of the Neubrandenburg district . A year later it had 214 members and consisted of nine sports sections. In 1988 the number of members had increased to 923 and the sports of boxing, football, bowling, canoeing, swimming, chess, athletics, table tennis, gymnastics and volleyball were practiced. Until the founding of the SC Neubrandenburg sports center in 1962, Motor Süd was the area's main focus for canoeing. The successful canoeists Rüdiger Helm and Andreas Dittmer began their sporting careers at BSG Motor Süd. After the club was founded, the badminton and soccer departments developed most successfully. Your athletes made it up to the national league at times.

Development of the sport of football

BSG Motor Süd has always been in the shadow of the more successful soccer teams Turbine / SC / Post and Vorwärts Neubrandenburg . Motor Süd only rose to the third-class district league Neubrandenburg in 1976 . After that, the BSG was temporarily among the top teams and won the district championship in 1987 and 1989. In the subsequent promotion games to the GDR league, however, each clearly failed. The last season of the district league in the GDR game operation concluded the BSG Motor Süd with ninth place.

In addition to the promotion games, Motor Süd took part in the GDR soccer cup competition in 1982/83 once more across the GDR . After winning the Neubrandenburg District Cup, the team qualified for participation in the first main round of the FDGB Cup competition. The opponent was the second division KWO Oberspree Berlin . The one class lower playing Neubrandenburg were able to stand up for a long time and were only thrown out of the competition in extra time with 3: 5.

The SV Motor Süd has not yet reached the level of the Association League . In 2005 the club was relegated from the regional league and then played in the regional league, after the league reform of 2008 in season II of the regional class (8th league). In 2013, relegation to the regional league had to be accepted. A year later, he was relegated to the ten-tier district league.
