Sašo Mirjanic

Sašo Mirjanič (born January 27, 1968 in Koper ) is a former Slovenian rower who competed for Yugoslavia until 1991.

In 1985, Mirjanič finished tenth in the four without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships . In 1986 he and Sadik Mujkič won the title in two without a helmsman . At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, he finished eighth in two with a helmsman together with Milan Janša and helmsman Roman Ambrožič . At the 1989 World Championships , which were held in his homeland in Bled , Mirjanič stepped in a four-man with a helmsmanand took seventh place. The following year he reached fifth place with the Yugoslav four at the World Championships in Tasmania .

In 1992 Slovenia took part in the Olympic Games for the first time. At the 1992 Olympic regatta in Barcelona, ​​the Slovenian four without a helmsman with Janez Klemenčič , Sašo Mirjanič, Milan Janša and Sadik Mujkič finished third behind the boats from the United States and New Zealand. In the first semifinal, the crew from the United States won ahead of the Slovenes and the Dutch, and in the second semifinals, the boats from Australia, Germany and New Zealand made it to the finals. The Australians won the final ahead of the US rowers. The Slovenes won the bronze medal 0.15 seconds ahead of the Germans. With the Slovenian four without a helmsman, Mirjanič reached fourth place at the World Championships in 1994 .

The 1.87 m tall Sašo Mirjanič rowed for Veslaski Klub Bled .
