Milan Janša

Milan Janša (born September 26, 1965 in Jesenice ) is a former Slovenian rower who competed for Yugoslavia until 1991.

Janša won at the Junior World Championships in 1983 together with Robert Krasovec the silver medal in two without a helmsman . In 1984 he finished sixth at the (unofficial) U23 World Championships with the four without a helmsman . From 1985 Janša competed in the world championships in the adult class, but from 1985 to 1987 only reached the B final in the boat class four without a helmsman, and at the Olympic Games in 1988 the Yugoslav four came in eighth overall . Milan Janša won his first medal in the adult class at the 1989 World Championships , which were held in his home town of Bled . Together with Robert Krasovec and helmsman Gorazd Slivnik he received the bronze medal in two with helmsman . In 1990 Janša and Krasovec with helmsman Robert Erzen also won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Tasmania . At the last appearance for Yugoslavia Janša finished sixth in the two-man team at the 1991 World Championships .

In 1992 Slovenia took part in the Olympic Games for the first time. At the 1992 Olympic regatta , the Slovenian four-man without a helmsman won the bronze medal behind the boats from Australia and the United States with Janez Klemenčič , Sašo Mirjanič , Milan Janša and Sadik Mujkič . With the Slovenian four without a helmsman Janša reached fourth place at the World Championships in 1994 , and in 1995 the Slovenians took eighth place. At the 1996 Olympic Games , Denis Žvegelj , Klemenčič, Janša and Mujkič sat in the Slovenian foursome, which finished as the fourth boat behind the Australians, French and British. At the 1997 World Championships , the Slovenian four-man again finished fourth.

At the 2000 Olympic Games he was back in the Slovenian foursome, who finished fourth with Klemenčič, Janša, Rok Kolander and Matej Prelog like four years earlier. A year later, the four Slovenes won the bronze medal behind the British and Germans at the 2001 World Championships in Lucerne. In 2002 the Slovenian foursome again finished fourth in the world championship finals at the last major regatta in which Milan Janša took part.

The 1.90 m tall Milan Janša rowed for Veslaski Klub Bled .
