Rok Kolander

Rok Kolander (born February 8, 1980 in Maribor ) is a former Slovenian rower who won two bronze medals at world championships.

Athletic career

Together with Matej Prelog, Kolander was fifth in the 1998 Junior World Championships in two without a helmsman . In 1999 he won the silver medal in two at the U23 World Championships . Together with Janez Klemenčič , Milan Janša and Matej Prelog, Kolander took fourth place in the four without a helmsman at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. In 2001 the Slovenian foursome won the World Cup in Seville. At the World Championships in Lucerne , the British won ahead of the German foursome, Klemenčič, Janša, Kolander and Prelog received the bronze medal. The following year, the four Slovenes finished fourth at the World Championships in Seville .

In 2003 Kolander was the only remaining rower in the foursome, together with Miha Pirih , Gregor Sračnjek and Tomaž Pirih he finished sixth at the World Championships in Milan . In 2004 Kolander entered the world championships in the non-Olympic boat classes in a four-man with helmsman and was fourth in the world championship. At the 2005 World Championships in Gifu , Kolander finished 13th with the four-man without a helmsman. In 2006 the Slovenian foursome with Kolander, the Pirih brothers and Matej Prelog reached the A-final again at the World Championships in Eton and finished fifth. The Slovenes also finished fifth at the 2007 World Championships in Munich in the line-up of Tomaž Pirih, Rok Rozman , Rok Kolander and Miha Pirih. In the same line-up, the four Slovenes reached fourth place at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing a year later .

In 2009 the four Slovenes won the bronze medal behind the British and Australians at the World Championships in Poznan . In 2010 the Slovenian four-man missed the A-final in all World Cup regattas, at the World Championships in New Zealand Kolander and Tomaž Pirih took 12th place in the two-man without helmsman. Kolander competed in the World Cup in 2011 and 2012, but no longer took part in the World Championships.
