Saalig is part of the municipality of Mühlental in the Vogtland district .

geography

Saalig is located in the southeast of the municipality and borders on three other districts of the municipality of Mühlental ( Marieney in the west, Hermsgrün in the south and Wohlbach in the southeast) and on two districts of the town of Schöneck / Vogtl. ( Eschenbach in the east and Schilbach in the north).

history

The approximately 308 hectares large Waldhufendorf was 1,279 as Salech first mentioned. The name is derived from the Latin name for willow (Salix). Until the 19th century, Saalig belonged to the Voigtsberg office .

In 1973 the village was incorporated into Marieney . Since 1994 the village has belonged to the newly founded community of Mühlental.
