history

The forest hoof village Schilbach was mentioned in 1370, when one of five sons of the noble Tosse family , who owned the castle of Schöneck , received the place Schilbach and built the manor Schilbach. The places Schilbach, Korna, Arnoldsgrün (proportionally) and Eschenbach (proportionately) belonged to its manor. Around 1500 the estate was owned by the von Tettau auf Schwarzenberg family . Around 1506 Schilbach belonged to the Plauen Office and from 1748 to 1856 to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Voigtsberg . After 1856 the place belonged to the court office of Schöneck and from 1875 to the Oelsnitz administration .

In 1912 the manor Schilbach was acquired by Carl Siems, who owned a tulle factory in Plaue near Flöha . He had the old castle demolished until 1914 and its inventory auctioned. Then the new castle was built on the site as a representative residential building and a park. Siems widow was expropriated in 1945. As part of the land reform in the Soviet zone of occupation , the manor was divided. Between 1948 and 1955 the mansion was used as a district party school, after which it was converted into an old people's home. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the community of Schilbach became part of the Klingenthal district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Klingenthal in 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996.

Due to the incorporation to Schöneck / Vogtl. On May 1, 1995, the community of Schilbach became a district and a locality of the town of Schöneck / Vogtl. The former manor Schilbach came into the possession of the Oelsnitz district in 1990 . After the retirement home was closed in 1991, it was opened in 1996/1997 by the “Obervogtland Association for Inner Mission Marienstift e. V. ”and the manor buildings were renovated in 1998. Since then the mansion has been used by a culture and youth education center. In 2001 the park was restored.
