Saar-Blies-Weg
The Saar-Blies-Weg is a 66 km long hiking trail in Saarland and leads from Saarbrücken to Nohfelden . The path is marked with an orange cross on a white background.
Course of the way
The Saar-Blies-Weg begins in Saarbrücken at the residential area "Am Homburg". It first leads to the coal saddle of the Saarkohlenwald . The route runs past the Saarland University at the level of the Kohlensattels until shortly before Elversberg . The path leads from here into the valley, passes the Spieser Mühle and reaches the Wellesweiler district of Neunkirchen via the Kasbruchtal valley , where the hiker crosses the Blies . Now the path rises again to reach the Oster valley after about 6 km at the Hanauer Mühle . The path continues to Fürth in the Ostertal , crosses the Oster and continues towards St. Wendel . On this section it is congruent with the Saarland circular hiking trail . Past St. Wendel, the path continues north via Leitersweiler , Pinsweiler into the Nahe valley , which is reached at Nohfelden. Here the path joins the Nahe path , another supraregional hiking trail in Saarland.
Sights on the route
There are many historical sights of the Saarland on the Saar-Blies-Weg. The Kasbruchtal near Wellesweiler was already used by people in Roman times. The path also leads past the “Stone Man”, a Roman stone of the four gods near the village of Frankenholz . In Fürth in the Ostertal, the historic Wern oil mill and the old bridge over the Oster are worth seeing. In the vicinity of Mosberg-Richweiler there is a ring wall, in Nohfelden the Veldenz Castle is worth seeing.
