Saasveld ( Lower Saxon : Soasel) is a church village in the municipality of Dinkelland in the Stadsregio Twente in the Dutch province of Overijssel .

history

Until the restructuring of the municipality on January 1, 2001, the village was part of the municipality Weerselo . On October 4, 2019, the village had 1,675 inhabitants.

In the vicinity of Saasveld there is a windmill from 1870, the Saasveldermolen , which was restored and operating in 1978 .

The Roman Catholic St. Plechelmus Church is located in the center of Saasveld. Today's church building - the third stone church built on this site since 1820 - was designed by the Amersfoort architect Herman Kroes and commissioned in 1926. The glass windows for the church, rectory and auditorium (43 in total) were realized over a period of 30 years by Jan Schoenaker, a glassmaker in Oldenzaal . Saterslo Castle, whose canal system can still be seen, used to stand on the site of the church.

Saasveld is known in the region for the Bruins nightlife center, which is located in the center of the village and can accommodate more visitors than the town has inhabitants. In addition, the Kenkhuis family of actors lives in Saasveld, best known for the Dutch soap opera Van Jonge Leu en Oale Groond .
