Sabine Anagnostou

Sabine Anagnostou (nee Schultheis, * 1965 ) is a German pharmacy historian .

Life

Anagnostou studied pharmacy at the University of Würzburg and was licensed as a pharmacist. In 1991, in addition to working in a pharmacy, she started a graduate course at the Institute for the History of Pharmacy at the Philipps University of Marburg . In 2000 she was awarded " summa cum laude " for Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In 2003, her dissertation received the "Carmen Francés Prize" from the International Society for the History of Pharmacy. From 2001 to 2004 she was a scholarship holder of the German Research Foundation for "Ordensapotheken in Central Europe and the countries of Spanish America as places of remedies and knowledge transfer (16th - 18th centuries)". From 2002 she took on teaching positions in Marburg, including lectures on the history of botany.

After the end of her scholarship, she became a research assistant and habilitation candidate at the Institute for the History of Pharmacy in Marburg in 2004, where she completed her habilitation in 2009 and received her teaching license . From 2010 she was a private lecturer there. In 2011 she received the Dalberg Prize for her habilitation thesis from the Academy of Charitable Sciences in Erfurt . At this point in time, she had already presented her research results in more than 40 publications and numerous lectures. In May 2013 she was appointed professor in Marburg, but switched to industry on June 30th. She continues to work as a university teacher in Marburg.

Since April 2012 she has been President of the German Society for the History of Pharmacy . She has been a member of the International Society for the History of Pharmacy since 2004 and of the Académie Internationale d'Histoire de la Farmacie since 2011. She also belongs to the extended circle of the monastery medicine research group as a "specialist in missionary medicine , that is, knowledge of medicinal plants that the monks brought with them from the colonies".
