Life

The daughter of a Cologne master electrician studied law at the University of Cologne and administrative law at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer . When she passed the second state examination, she already had two children. Becker became a member of the CDU in 1999. As a fully qualified lawyer, she worked as a lawyer in Hagnau on Lake Constance until 2004 . She has journalistic experience and was a research assistant in the Bundestag.

Sabine Becker was elected Mayor of Meersburg on November 28, 2004 in the second ballot with an absolute majority of 56 percent . On February 1, 2005, she replaced Heinz Tausendfreund, who was defeated by her in two ballots. The term of office of the first woman in the mayor's office in the Lake Constance district lasted until 2013.

After just three and a half years, she stood for election in Überlingen. On October 12, 2008, she was elected the first female mayor in the city's history in the second ballot with a relative majority of 40.8 percent of the votes, with a turnout of 54 percent.

The change of office in the Überlingen town hall - she replaced Volkmar Weber there - was scheduled for December 1, 2008. If Becker had kept this date, her later pension entitlements would have been reduced; this caused her to come to Überlingen on February 1, 2009. She gave up her position in Meersburg on January 31, 2009 and took up her office in Überlingen the next day. She was sworn in on February 16, 2009. When she took office, she announced that she wanted to run for a second term.

On May 25, 2014, Sabine Becker was elected to the district assembly of the Lake Constance district for the "Bürgerliste Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Überlingen - Owingen - Sipplingen" (BVÜOS).

Becker left the CDU on August 29, 2014.

In the mayor elections in Überlingen on November 27, 2016, she received 12 percent of the vote and lost her position as mayor.
