Sabine Felgenhauer-Schmiedt

Sabine Felgenhauer-Schmiedt (born November 17, 1943 in Villach ) is an Austrian medieval archaeologist .

Life

She attended elementary school in Hermagor , then the grammar school in Villach, Graz and from 1955 in Bonn - Bad Godesberg . After graduating from high school in 1962 at Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium in Bonn-Bad Godesberg, she majored in Prehistory and Protohistory from 1962 to 1968, and Medieval history as a minor in Bonn and Vienna. In 1968 she wrote her dissertation on the found material of the Hausberg zu Gaiselberg, Lower Austria . In 1969 she married the prehistorian Fritz Felgenhauer. Since 1979 she has been teaching archaeological realities of the Middle Ages. After completing her habilitation in medieval archeology in 1989, with a special focus on realism, she was awarded the title of extraordinary university professor in 1997 .
