Sabine Steffen

Sabine Steffen (born November 28, 1958 in Hamburg ) is a German politician on the Green Alternatives List (GAL) and a former member of the Hamburg Parliament as well as a painter.

Life and work

Sabine Steffen studied social education , after which she worked as a youth officer and department head in the youth welfare office. She later worked as a staff councilor and chairwoman of the staff council in the Wandsbek district office.

In addition to her political work, Sabine Steffen has been a painter since 1998. In a press release on the exhibition in the district office of Hamburg-Wandsbek, her work was described as “a mixture of reality and fantasy, achieved through the use of strong colors and symbolic elements”. She exhibited her works alongside this exhibition in 2001 in the rooms of the GAL citizenship group.

For the Green Alternative List (GAL) she was a member of the Hamburg citizenship in the 16th and 17th electoral periods from 1997 to 2001 and from 2002 to 2004. In the 2001 state elections, she was unable to enter parliament despite a 13th place on the state list move in, their party only got 11 seats. In 2002, however, she took over a seat from the retired politicians Krista Sager and Anja Hajduk (both took over seats in the Bundestag) and Alexander Porschke . For her parliamentary group , she took on the role of spokesperson for child and youth policy.

In January 2003 she was appointed to the Low German Council by Ole von Beust , a committee with voluntary employees that works to preserve the language.
