Sachari Simeonov Sakhariev
Sachari Simeonow Sakhariev ( Bulgarian Захари Симеонов Захариев ; born February 6, 1904 in Bassarbowo , † April 29, 1987 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian politician and colonel general .
Life
Sakhariev joined the Bulgarian Communist Party in 1926 . In 1931 he emigrated to the Soviet Union . From 1936 to 1939 he was then active as a pilot in the Spanish Civil War . After returning to Bulgaria, he was chief of the Bulgarian air force from 1947 to 1954 and then again from 1957 to 1959 . From 1954 to 1959 and from 1965 to 1972 he was Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Defense. From 1958 to 1962 he was a member of the central committee of his party.
Sakhariev wrote articles on military and political problems. He also wrote several books.
As Hero of the Soviet Union , Hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria, he was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Dimitrov Prize .
