Bassarbowo ( Bulgarian Басарбово ) is a Bulgarian village with 1299 inhabitants (as of 15 March 2009) in the town of Ruse the same Ruse Province . Bassarbowo is located at an altitude of about 81 meters above sea level directly on the border with Romania on the Danube, about 8.5 kilometers south of the administrative center of the municipality in Ruse. The main sources of income are forestry and agriculture.
The Bassarbowski Monastery is located near the village . Since 2015, the place has given its name to the Basarbovo Ridge , a mountain ridge on the Brabant Island in Antarctica.
Personalities
The communist politician and general Sachari Simeonow Sakhariev (1904–1987) was born in Bassarbowo .
