Things Künga Nyingpo (* 1092 in Sakya Dzong ; † 1158 ) is one of the "five venerable masters" who brought the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism to full bloom. These “five masters” include things like Künga Nyingpo, Sönam Tsemo , Dragpa Gyeltshen , Sakya Pandita Künga Gyeltshen and Chögyel Phagpa .

Things Künga Nyingpo was the son of Khön Könchog Gyelpo , who, as the founder of the first monastery Sakya ("Gray Earth"), was also the first throne holder of Sakya ( Sakya Thridzin ). Things Künga Nyingpo was also a student of the great translators of the Sakya school, namely Bari Lotsawa , the second Sakya Thrizin and Drogmi Lotsawa . He studied important teachings of sutra and tantra with him for eight years and, due to his realization, was considered the emanation of the great bodhisattvas Avalokitesvara and Manjushri . Things Künga Nyingpo systematized all the teachings of the Sakya tradition and created the special teaching structure of the school. In the Sakya school he is very much admired because of his writings on the Hevajra tantra and the related systematic teaching of the lamdre (path and fruit). Things Künga Nyingpo was third Sakya Thridzin. His son Sönam Tsemo (1142–1182) became the fourth holder of the throne.
