Sachindra Chaudhuri (born February 24, 1903 in Calcutta , † June 12, 1992 ) was an Indian politician of the Indian National Congress (INC), who was India's finance minister between 1965 and 1967 .

Life

After attending the Rani Bhabani School in Calcutta, Chaudhuri, son of Prabhodh Chandra Chaudhuri, first completed an undergraduate degree at the Presidency University there, which he completed with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). After that, he graduated in law at Fitzwilliam College of the University of Cambridge with a Bachelor of Arts from (LL. B.) and received his legal admission to the Bar after ( Inns of Court ) from Lincoln's Inn . On his return to India, he worked as a lawyer and was last as a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court (Supreme Court of India) approved. He was also a director of numerous companies and a member of the board of the State Bank of India , India's largest bank.

In the 1962 parliamentary elections , Chaudhuri was elected a member of Lok Sabha for the INC in the Lok Sabha constituency of Ghatal , of which he was a member until 1967. On December 31, 1965 he was appointed finance minister in the Shastri cabinet and held this ministerial post in the Indira Gandhi I cabinet until March 12, 1967 . He was also a legal member of the Law Commission of India , which is responsible for drafting legal reforms.

His marriage to Seeta Mitter on December 11, 1930 resulted in a son and two daughters.
