history

The Sachsen-Anhalt was laid down on June 4, 2014 in cooperation between ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and the Lürssen shipyard group in Hamburg . The ceremonial christening took place on March 4, 2016 in Hamburg. Godmother was Gabriele Haseloff, the wife of the Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff . Commissioning and handover to the 4th frigate squadron is planned for the first quarter of 2021.

On February 22, 2018, the frigate left for its first two-week shipyard test drive. During this, the ship's technical systems and facilities, including the propulsion system, the maneuvering behavior and the technical operation of the frigate were tested. The shipyard test drive led from Hamburg over the Elbe to the North Sea and back.
