The Sachsen Fernsehen is a private regional television from Chemnitz.

history

First, this regional station began on 4. October 1993 with the half-hour program "Local TV Chemnitz", later "hub Chemnitz" as factory daily regional window the analog broadcast on the terrestrial channel 45 VOX interrupted 5:30 p.m. to 18:00. The repetition took place from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., also on weekdays, on channel 47, on which the RTL program was broadcast.

Since July 1, 1999 , together with the regional “Chemnitz TV”, the all-day joint “Saxony TV”, organized with “ Dresden Fernsehen ” and “ Leipzig TV ”, has been shown on the terrestrial channel previously used by RTL. This program, operated by Sachsen Fernsehen GmbH & Co. Fernseh-Betriebs KG , even contained fictional entertainment formats and showed some older television series and feature films from the Kirch Group's archive during prime time .

From April 2001 to July 2002 the cover program of Suntv was broadcast. In SunTV there was a program offering the Kirch Group , which was acquired solely by various metropolitan stations in Germany, which shows like Blondes Gift with Barbara Schöneberger and WIB-swing with Wigald Boning in parts of Saxony were receivable. In the course of the insolvency of the Kirch Group, Suntv discontinued this shell program.

When the cooperation was terminated, caused by financial difficulties, Sachsen Fernsehen GmbH & Co. Fernseh-Betriebs KG in Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig transferred broadcasting to regional partners.

In March 2012, Sachsen Fernsehen won the award for the best regional news journal in Germany with the show Drehscheibe Chemnitz at RegioStar 2012.

On May 30, 2013 it was announced that Sachsen Fernsehen, together with its sister broadcaster Leipzig Fernsehen , will be discontinued at the end of September 2013 due to its annual loss of 180,000 euros.

After the station was originally planned to be discontinued in May 2013 - just like that of Leipzig Fernsehen - at the end of September 2013 for economic reasons, it was announced on August 11 that the operation of both stations would now be secured with the support of Haeswe GmbH in Dresden . For this purpose, the production company FiS - Fernsehen in Sachsen GmbH was founded, which is now producing the programs for Sachsen Fernsehen in Leipzig and Chemnitz.

The background to this is that the - exclusively local - advertising income is not sufficient to maintain operations without regular subsidies from the shareholders and / or the "self-exploitation" of employees. The structural problems have not changed, but a leaner staff is to be expected and the broadcasters are hoping for state subsidies for regional television broadcasters such as in the Free State of Bavaria , in particular for the financing of the line costs.

At the beginning of 2016, Sachsen Fernsehen in Chemnitz was renamed Chemnitz Fernsehen . The superordinate name "Sachsen Fernsehen" remains unaffected.

On April 1, 2019, Sachsen Fernsehen was nominated for the regional television award in 5 categories, which resulted in an award for the best news presenter for Leipzig television.

reception

Sachsen Fernsehen was one of the last television stations in Chemnitz to broadcast analogue terrestrial via UHF channel 47 until the end of 2012. After that, terrestrial broadcasting was discontinued without replacement. Chemnitz television is currently fed and transmitted digitally in the cable networks of Pÿur , Kabel Deutschland, and various smaller cable networks. So that the program can z. T. to Dresden, Leipzig and Plauen are received.

Terrestrially, the station can be received via DVB-T in HD in the city of Chemnitz using an indoor antenna.

In contrast, the spread in the broadband cable networks in the Chemnitz region will continue . In addition, the program is offered on the station's homepage as a live stream , as is the articles from the main news program “Drehscheibe Chemnitz” for reading and viewing.

production

The regional television network Sachsen Fernsehen (Chemnitz, Dresden , Leipzig ) has been broadcasting daily broadcast windows with the 9Live program since January 1, 2007 . However, on August 9, 2011, 9Live ceased broadcasting.

Online activities

Within the first 10 years, the television broadcaster did not have its own website. The first website for Sachsen Fernsehen was developed in mid-2004 through cooperation with a local information service . Although this was initially only a purely PHP -based site and a regularly updated website was generally unusual for local TV stations up to now, the signs of the times were recognized that the future of regional television should also be located in the online area . In addition to the current reports from the news magazine " Drehscheibe Chemnitz ", other offers such as an overview of regional sports results or a wide range of party pictures from events in the region, which were primarily intended to strengthen target group loyalty and service orientation, were quickly found. Furthermore, a separate news magazine "Drehscheibe compact" was produced especially for the online presence, which was put online together with other digital video files and is available around the clock in an archive.

Building on this, a model project started in Chemnitz in March 2006 to offer the developed information system to other regional television and radio stations in a package and to further expand the online area in parallel to television production. The idea behind it was to bundle the resources of several broadcasting stations in the television network, which up to now could not afford the high development costs for their own Internet presence, and to avoid double spending. The project under the title " Kanal8 " was completely re- implemented in ASP.NET by the end of 2006 and is now used by 30 other television, radio stations and newspapers nationwide. Further development continued by a programming team in Chemnitz. The project ended at the end of May 2016.
