Sacomar is a port on Namibe Bay in the Município (administrative district) of Moçâmedes in southwest Angola .

The port is connected to the city of Menongue by a railway line and by trunk roads to the rest of the country and neighboring Namibia and Zambia . The Aeroporto Internacional Weliwítschia Mirabilis is 7 km away .

Sacomar was built by the Portuguese between 1967 and 1968 to ship iron ore from the Cassinga mines in the Huíla province . It was in operation for 8 years and in 1973 it reached an export volume of 6.2 million tons. After that, mining was given up due to the civil war and iron ore exports stopped. It is currently used as a transshipment terminal for fuels and lubricating oils on a quay 525 m long with a draft of 19 m. An average of 25,000 tons of these goods are handled every month. The port can be entered without any sea-related restrictions. At the beginning of 2019, a Japanese company took on the task of repairing Sacomar for iron ore shipping. The project is funded by Japan and is expected to be completed in three years.
