Sacrilege BC was an American thrash metal band from Berkeley , California , which was founded in 1983 under the name Sacrilege and disbanded in 1991. During their career, the band played with groups such as DRI , Testament (back then still under the name Legacy), Exodus , Possessed and Death Angel .

history

The band was founded in 1983 by singer Strephon Taylor and guitarist Tim Howell under the name Sacrilege. In November 1984, drummer Matt Filmore, guitarist Gary Wendt and bassist Musashi "Moose" Lethridge completed the line-up. The average age of the members was around 16.5 years. Howell and Wendt had learned to play the guitar with the help of Joe Satriani . In November 1985 the band recorded their first demo Party with God . On the following album of the same name, which was produced by Mark Dentrom ( Clown Alley ), Sean Smithson came to the band as the new bass player, although this position should be associated with frequent line-up changes in the future of the band. After the group signed a contract with Alchemy Records , they changed their name to Sacrilege BC, as an English band of the same name already existed. The BC stood for "Berkeley, California". Party with God was released in 1986 via Alchemy Records, followed by the album Too Cool to Pray in 1988 , before the group split up in 1991. Guitarist Wendt later founded the band Skinlab .

style

Holger Stratmann from Metal Hammer assigned the album Party with God to classic Thrash Metal from the San Francisco Bay Area , although the pace was almost consistently high. Uwe Schnädelbach assigned the band to the classic crossover in the crash . According to classicthrash.com, the band plays perhaps the fastest Thrash Metal on the album without falling too deeply into hardcore punk. On Too Cool to Pray the band clearly declined with the speed.
