Saduküla (German Saddoküll ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the Estonian rural community of Puurmani in Jõgeva County .

Location and history

Saduküla is about twelve kilometers from Puurmani. The Kaave River flows through the village . Saduküla has 241 inhabitants (as of 2006).

The village was first mentioned in 1582 under the name Sodokula (according to other sources as early as 1426). In 1776 a school was founded in the village. The current school building with kindergarten dates from 1880. It was rebuilt after fires in 1923 and 1949.

In 1868 an Orthodox church was built one kilometer from the village center.

Good Saduküla

From 1632 (or 1634) the Saduküla estate belonged to the Livonian Tartu ( Dorpat ) as a city estate . The simple buildings were mainly built in the second half of the 19th century. The simple, one-story main house and numerous auxiliary buildings, which are now mostly used for agriculture after renovations, have been preserved.

Saduküla was the center of a sovkhoz during the Soviet occupation of Estonia .
