The river Kaave ( Estonian Kaave jõgi ; historical German name "Kawascher Bach") flows in the Jõgeva district in central Estonia .

The Kaave River is 38 kilometers long. Its catchment area covers 138 km². The most important tributary is the Lombiväla stream ( Lombiväla oja ).

The river has its source in the Vaimastvere moor ( Vaimastvere raba ), about four kilometers south of the village of Kärde. On the upper reaches it flows mainly through deserted forests and moorlands, on the lower reaches through arable land. The Kaave is a right tributary of the Pedja , the mouth is at Puurmani .

There are numerous brown trout, especially in the middle reaches . The lower reaches are also very rich in fish. The name of the river comes from the village of Kaave (rural municipality Pajusi ). The river was first mentioned in 1411 under the name Kaffenbeke .
