Saint-Basile is a city ( ville ) in the MRC Portneuf of the Canadian province of Québec .

It is located in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale - about 50 km west of the provincial capital Québec and 8 km north of the Saint Lawrence River . The city has around 2600 inhabitants and is named after St. Basil of Caesarea .

history

In 2000, the district ( municipalité de la paroisse ) Saint-Basile and the municipality ( municipalité de village ) Saint-Basile-Sud were merged to form the city of Saint-Basile.
