Sainte-Honorine-la-Petite is a former French commune in the department of Orne . Today, Sainte-Honorine-la-Petite is part of the municipality of Ménil-Gondouin under the name La Petite Sainte-Honorine .
geography
The place La Petite Sainte-Honorine is located in the east of the municipality and about one kilometer southeast of the church of Ménil-Gondouin. It extends along the D221 road, which leads to the D15 about a kilometer northeast; the latter road provides the connection to Ménil-Gondouin in the west and to Putanges-Pont-Écrepin in the east.
history
During the feudal period , Sainte-Honorine-la-Petite belonged to the fief of the neighboring town of Ménil-Gondouin. In 1783 the previously existing village church was desecrated and the parish was incorporated into that of Ménil-Gondouin.
The self-governing municipality of Sainte-Honorine-la-Petite was created during the French Revolution that began in 1789 . At the time it was founded, it was named Sainte Honorine la Petite and belonged to the canton of Putange (now Putanges-Pont-Écrepin ) within the Orne department. In 1801 the hyphens were added to the name. The population was 154 in 1793 and 171 in 1821, while Ménil-Gondouin had almost three times as many residents. On January 30, 1822, the incorporation into the larger neighboring community was completed.
