Who is Sakamoto? ( Japanese. 坂 本 で す が? , Sakamoto desu ga? ) is a manga series by Nami Sano , which was released in Japan from 2012 to 2015. It was adapted as an anime television series and can be classified into the genres of action, comedy and his own.

The high school student Sakamoto ( 坂 本 ) is cool, polite, successful and popular with classmates and teachers and he succeeds in everything he touches. In doing so, he gets into absurd situations in his everyday life, which he overcomes with similarly unusual skills and tricks. He can also win over his classmates who initially reject him because of his popularity and try to bully him. In addition, Sakamoto has to fend off admirers, especially the stubborn Aina. The series was published in four volumes by Enterbrain in Japan from April 2012 to December 2015 . The last volume sold over 500,000 times in the first seven weeks.

A German translation was published by Egmont Manga from June 2015 to August 2016. The series was also released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment , in Spanish by Milky Way Ediciones and in Chinese by Kadokawa in Taiwan.

Anime adaptation

In 2016 Studio Deen produced an anime adaptation of the manga for Japanese television. It was directed by Shinji Takamatsu and the character design designed Atsuko Nakajima . Masatoshi Muto was the artistic director . The first broadcast took place from April 8 to July 1, 2016 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on TBS in Japan, and later on the same or the following day on CBC and MBS . This was followed by broadcasts on other Japanese channels and on Animax Asia in English. Various platforms published the series via streaming with subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
