Papadimitriou was already one of the driving forces behind the still small Greek jazz and improvisation scene in the early 1960s ; In 1963 he published a book on jazz. His radio broadcasts (from 1975) and articles in TZAZ magazine helped create an informed audience for jazz in its free form . Papadimitriou and the clarinetist Floros Floridis formed the first free music duo in Greece, which recorded the album Improvising at Barakos (1979), but was short-lived due to musical and personal differences. Papadimitriou then worked with other Greek musicians such as the bassist Mihalis Siganidis , the drummer Lefteris Agouridakis, the singer Georgia Sylleou or the drummer Christos Yermenoglou; however, his discography consists mainly of piano solo recordings, mostly published on Leo Records . His plucking, bowing and striking the strings of the instrument in the interior of the piano is particularly striking. He is not to be confused with the guitarist of the same name (* 1961).
