Mihalis Siganidis

Mihalis Siganidis ( Greek Μιχάλης Σιγανίδης Michalis Siganidis , * 1958 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek jazz musician ( double bass , also guitar , vocals , composition ).

Life

Siganidis played guitar as a child and studied mandolin and double bass at the Conservatory of Thessaloniki. From 1978 he worked with jazz and improvisation musicians such as Sakis Papadimitriou , Floros Floridis and Theodoris Rellos , and later with Peter Kowald , Antonis Anissegos and Chris Dahlgren . He also composed music for short films and theatrical productions.

Siganidis is a member of the Imerini Kolimvites ( Winter Swimmers ) group, for which he a. a. orchestrated the albums Ichnilates tou Ioura and O Ilios kai to Fengari . He also released several albums under his own name ( Mikros Aderfos , To Proi kai to Vradi , To Traino Fantasma Filo , Mikres Angelies ) and as head of the group Sygrotima Lambrakis the CD Basse Classe . He is also a founding member of the group Primavera en Salonico , which has released several albums with Savina Yannatou since 1998 , most recently Songs of Thessaloniki ( ECM 2015).
