Sala (German: Holmhof ) is a village in eastern Latvia , south of the Daugava River in the Sēlija region.
history
Up until the Second World War there was only a school building here. Today the city mainly consists of apartment buildings from the Soviet era as well as a middle school, a kindergarten, a cultural center and a pharmacy.
Salas novads
In 2009 the municipalities of Sala and Sēlpils merged into one administrative unit. (See also: Administrative division of Latvia ) The administration is located in Sala. In 2010, 4297 inhabitants were registered.
