Jana Sue Memel (born March 7, 1955 in Los Angeles ) is an American film producer who has twice received the Oscar in the category "Best Short Film" .

Life

Jana Sue Memel, who has produced more than 70 films and short films to date, won her first Oscar with Jonathan Sanger at the 1988 Academy Awards in the “Best Short Film” category with the short film comedy Ray's Male Heterosexual Dance Hall (1987).

Two other nominees in this category received 1993 together with Jonathan Darby for Contact (1992), a story about two soldiers from different nations who must cooperate with each other and in 1994 , together with Peter Weller for Partners (1993), one produced for television short film , in where a junior law firm partner finds out that the wife of a very important client is his ex-college girlfriend.

At the 1996 Academy Awards , Memel was awarded her second Oscar in the “Best Short Film” category, this time with Christine Lahti for the love story Lieberman in Love .

Other films produced by Memel include the comedy Archie and Harry - You Can't Quit It (1986) with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas , the short film Session Man (1991), the black comedy Darling, do you ever hold the ax? (1993), the sci-fi short 12:01 PM (1993), another short film Duke of Groove (1996) and the youth wrestling film The Big Fight (2004). As a film director, she only made three films: the action drama Champion (2000), the sci-fi comedy Random - Nothing is As It Seems (2001) and the short documentary film You Can Do This Parents (2016).
