Salado is a city in Bell County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is on Salado Creek , east of Interstate 35 . Between Waco and Austin and has a total area of 44.1 km² without any significant water surface.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 3,475 people lived here in 1,382 households and 1,112 families. The population density was 78.8 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 92.37% White, 0.26% African American, 0.63% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, and 5.15% other ethnic groups. About 0.92% were mixed race and 8.66% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,382 households, 29.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 72.1% of them were married couples living together. 6.3% were single mothers and 19.5% were non-families. 16.9% of all households were single households and there were people living in 8.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 2.81 people.
22.4% of the population were under 18 years old, 5.5% 18 to 24, 23.0% 25 to 44, 31.3% 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 97.0 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 94.0 men.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 63,646 , and the median income for a family is $ 70,667. Males had a median income of $ 48,098 versus $ 26,528 for females. The per capita income was $ 29,685. 3.8% of the population and 3.0% of families are below the poverty line.
