Salaputia Brass is a professional brass ensemble from Germany. The twelve members have permanent engagements with German orchestras such as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig , the Hamburg State Opera , the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Gürzenichorchester Cologne or the T heater Augsburg and / or study at music colleges such as the Berlin University of the Arts , the Basel Music Academy, the university for Music, Theater and Media Hanover and the University of Music Würzburg .

The ensemble is working particularly hard on the further development of its own genre. In 2016 the CD Sounds of Evolution was released on the audite label, which only contains first recordings and commissioned compositions.

history

The brass ensemble was founded in 2007 by members of the Federal Youth Orchestra as a brass quintet . In 2011, the line-up was expanded with further alumni of the Federal Youth Orchestra to form a Dezett line-up similar to the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble . Since then Salaputia Brass has been giving concerts internationally in small and large ensembles.

Concert activity

Salaputia Brass performs publicly around 20 times a year both nationally and internationally. In addition to smaller venues, the ensemble played regularly at music festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Music Festival and the Aschaffenburger Bach Festival . During the first season since the Elbphilharmonie opened, the ensemble has already given two concerts in the sold-out large hall.

Salaputia Brass has made international guest appearances in France , Mexico City and Washington DC, USA , where they framed the presentation of the Eric M. Warburg Prize to Chancellor Merkel . In 2016 the ensemble performed with the Windsbacher Boys' Choir on a tour of several weeks through the People's Republic of China .

The connection with the Windsbacher boys' choir is renewed annually with concert tours in the Advent season.
