Saldenau is a district of the municipality of Hohenau in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau .

location

Saldenau is located in the Bavarian Forest about one kilometer west of Hohenau on the federal highway 533 .

history

Nothing is known about the founding of Saldenau, but the linguistic correspondence with Söldenau near Ortenburg , the castle of Heinrich Tuschl von Söldenau , who built the Saldenburg on Halser Grund in 1368 , is striking .

Like the citizens of the Kreuzberg and Freyung markets, the Grundholde von Saldenau and other localities in the area belonged to the so-called Aigners who had certain rights in the Passau bishopric . In 1788 Saldenau consisted of seven properties and belonged to the Oberamt of Wolfstein . After the dissolution of the Hochstift and its final incorporation into the Kingdom of Bavaria, Saldenau became part of the tax district and the municipality of Wasching . As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , it was incorporated into the Hohenau community with other parts of the community of the dissolved community of Wasching with effect from April 1, 1971, while Wasching itself came to Ringelai . In 1987 Saldenau had 137 inhabitants.
