Salesius Krügner

Salesius Krügner (born July 26, 1781 in Niklasberg ; † November 5, 1842 in Osek ) was abbot of the Osek Monastery .

Life

Krügner studied in Prague and entered the Cistercian Abbey of Osek in 1801. In 1805 he was ordained a priest. From 1808 to 1815 he was professor for church history and canon law at the theological home school of the monastery, 1808-1812 novice master and subprior, 1813-1816 abbot secretary.

As provost in the St. Marienstern monastery in Saxony (1818–1835), Krügner founded an educational institute for girls there. On January 14, 1835, he was elected Abbot of Osek and was also the visitor and vicar general for Bohemia and Lusatia. He also had a girls' school built in Osek. He turned down the offer to become bishop of Breslau in 1840.
