Sally Pomme Clayton

Sally Pomme Clayton is an English storyteller and author.

Life

With Ben Haggarty and Hugh Lupton , she founded the Company of Storytellers in 1985 , which was dedicated to storytelling for an adult audience. The company roamed the UK for twelve years, performing in art centers and theaters and participating in the National Oracy Project . The company's repertoire included a: The Three Snake Leaves about the dark side of Grimm's fairy tales and I Become Part of It , a fictional Stone Age mythology. She has appeared at the British Museum , the Royal Festival Hall , the Soho Theater and the Northern Stage , the Edinburgh Book Festival and the Cheltenham Music Festival . She has often worked with musicians, such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta , Janie Armor and the South Bank Gamelan Ensemble . 2010-11 she was a Royal Literary Fellow at the University of Westminster .

Clayton has written nine children's books, including Tales Told in Tents - stories from Central Asia (2004), Persephone, a journey from winter to spring (2009), Rama and Sita: path of flames (2010), and Sun, Stone and Sea - the World of Greek Mythology (with illustrations by Jane Ray , 2012). In 2009-10, Sea Stories , three compositions performed by the LPO in the Royal Festival Hall , were created in collaboration with the composer Dario Marianelli and the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) . In 2012 she wrote Prince Zal and the Simorgh for the composer David Bruce and performed the piece with the LPO at the Royal Festival Hall.
